The Stopping the Violence Program provides counselling services for women who are either currently experiencing or have historically experienced physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse in an intimate relationship or during childhood.

We offer a number of professionally facilitated psycho educational and therapeutic group options which address the safety, healing and growth needs of women. Some of these options include:

Rebuilding for Women
For women who are experiencing the journey of separation or divorce. It is important to understand the focus of the group is psycho-educational and the book used is REBUILDING by Bruce Fisher and Robert Alberti.
This group is 8 sessions and runs either in the morning (9:30-11:00 AM.) or the evening (7:00-9:00 PM.)

Self-Esteem for Women
For women who enjoy learning in a group setting about self-esteem.
This group is 8 sessions and runs either in the morning (9:30-11:00 AM.) or the evening (7:00-9:00 PM.)

Finding Our Voices Drop-In Group
This is a safe non-judgmental counselling group for women exploring abuse and unhealthy patterns in partner relationships for childhood. Topics are varied, and can include breaking the cycle, deciding whether/how to leave or stay in a relationship, boundaries, anger, trust, anxiety, depression, parenting, developing healthier present day relationships and healing and thriving after abuse. The group is held Friday mornings 9:30-11:30 am and new women can join any week. Women are asked to come ½ hour early the first time they attend. Mothering after Abuse (Mom's) Group
The Mom’s Group is an 8-10 session group for women who have experienced abuse and who are parenting children. Topics may include: Breaking the cycle of unhealthy relationships, parenting children who have witnessed abuse, custody /access issues with a parent who has been or is continuing to be controlling/ abusive, helping kids heal, grow and thrive, boundaries, discipline, anger and resiliency. This is an amazing group for mothers who want to create new, healthy, and purposeful relationships within their families. Prior counselling is encouraged. Child care is available. Reaching Out to Women (R.O.W)
Reaching out to women 50 and older who have experienced or are currently experiencing relationship abuse. Please contact the Kelowna Family Center @ 250-860-3181 to pre-register.

Community Based Workshops are also available.

Outreach -group work sessions are available off-site to meet the needs of various women’s groups.

Individual counselling is available in some circumstances.
